Abstract
PURPOSE: A surface treating composition for metal having improved corrosion resistance and priming property, comprising (A) an inorganic-organic composite product cinsisting of dispersible silica, an aqueous organic polymer resin, and an alkoxysilane and (B) a coordination compound.
CONSTITUTION: (A) An inorganic-organic composite produce consisting of (a) a water-dispersible silica, (b) a water-soluble or water-dispersible organic polymer resin, and (c) a di-or trialkoxy-(or alkoxyalkoxy) silane is incorporated with (B) one or more types of coordination compounds prepared by coordinating alkoxides of titanium or zirconium with coordinative compounds. Colloidal silica having a particle size of 7W100 mμ, preferably 10W50 mμ may be cited as the water- dispersible silica. The weight ratio of the silica (a) to organic resin (b) in the silica composite is preferably 5:95W95:5 based on the solid content.
