Abstract

Electrostatic recording unit is constituted by dielectric body 15 disposed on electric conductor 16, the conductor 16 and the electrode 12 are grounded, and the dielectric body 15 is previously uniformly and positively charged by corona discharger, etc. Now, when the electrode 11 is applied by high negative pulse voltage which is higher than the voltage of discharge threshold value, spark discharge takes place between electrodes 11 and 12 such that stable negative ion is produced in the vicinity of the electrode 11. This ion is attracted as in the direction of an arrow A by the positive charge on the dielectric body 15, accelerated when it passes the hole 13 of the plate 14, reaches the dielectric body 15 while being restrained from diffusion, and eliminates the positive charge to form the latent image.
