Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a filter described in the title which removes carbon monoxide efficiently at ordinary temp., by use of a prescribed catalyst of specific bulk specific weight, and by constituting the support with hardened particles made by kneading and shaping mixture of calcium aluminate, activated carbon powder, and potassium carbonate.
CONSTITUTION: A catalyst made by use of hardened particles manufactured through kneading and shaping a mixt. consisting of calcium aluminae, activated carbon powder, and potassium carbonate as a support, and by adding platinum group metals, pref. platinum and palladium, is adjusted to a bulk specific weight not larger than 0.6. The catalyst thus prepared is packed between two sheets of nonwoven textile to form a filter. Pref., the characteristic outer diameter of the catalyst is in such a range that the catalyst passes through a 200 mesh sieve. A filter thus constituted allows to remove carbon monoxide efficiently at a high space velocity.
