Abstract
PURPOSE: To conserve energy through enlarging the applicable range of an exhaust gas turbo-generator system and supplying, by means of an AC generator for driving the main engine, the power for equipment such as cooking ranges which can tolerate fluctuations in frequency.
CONSTITUTION: When the power capable of being generated by an exhaust gas turbo-generator is slightly less than the power required within the ship during a normal voyage, the exhaust gas turbo-generator supplies the power for equipment, such as electric motors, that require a constant frequency. On the other hand, an AC generator 1 for the main engine 4 supplies the power for equipment 2, such as a cooking range, that can tolerate some fluctation in frequency. This method enlarges the applicable range of the exhaust gas turbo-generator system and conserve energy, thus allowing equipment and power costs to be reduced.
