Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent reduction of the flame temperature within an auxiliary combustion chamber by coating a heat-resistant oxidizing catalyst on the inner surface of a hot plug fitted in a cavity for an auxiliary combustion chamber and defining a partition wall with respect to a main combustion chamber and jet port.
CONSTITUTION: A fuel injection valve V, a glow plug G and a hot plug A are provided in an auxiliary combustion chamber S communicated with a main combustion chamber M through a jet hole 1. The plug A consists of a side wall 3 and a bottom wall 4 having a jet hole 1, and a heat-resistant oxidizing catalyst composed of a heavy metal oxide is coated on or otherside applied to the entire inner surface of this plug to prevent escapement of heat therefrom.
