Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain inexpensive and good water permeable dam to quickly dehydrate muddy sludge by adding large quantity of coagulant to the sludge to form a dam of muddy sludge discharge area with the sludge solidified in agar-like state.
CONSTITUTION: Large quantity of aggregate such as water glass aggregate or the like is added to mudd d sludge of high water content. Thus, the muddy sludge is solidified to muddy sludge 1 solidified in agar-like state. This sludge 1 is placed on the base 3 around the discharge area 2 to form a dam 4. Muddy sludge 5 of constant addition of aggregate is dumped within the discharge area 2 surrounded by the dam 4. Since the dam 4 has good water permeability, the sludge 5 is quickly dehydrated. Aggregate such as pulverized stones or the like is filled in the center of the dam 4 to strengthen it. Sand and ballast or the like may also be mixed within the muddy sludge 1 to thereby enhance the water permeability.
