CONSTITUTION: A pumping system of waterworks includes a clean water reservoir 10 and service reservoir 11. Feed water pumps P1n--P3n with different capacities, motors M1n--M3n for driving the pumps and discharge valves MV are fitted to the outlet of the clean water reservoir 10, together with a controller which puts in signals from a pumping flow meter 3, service flow meter 4, water level meters 1, 2 of service and clean water reservoirs and puts out signals to a power board for starting or stopping either of pumps through comparation. When the water level of the service reservoir 11 is low under the condition of service flow > pumping flow + constant, the pumps with large capacities are turned on and when it is high, the pumps with small capacities are put into operation, but when the water level is high under the condition of service flow < pumping flow + constant, the larger pumps are turned off and when it is low, the smaller pumps are out of operation.
