Abstract
PURPOSE: The pipe expander which is inexpensive and highly efficient, can be installed in narrow area, and is available for fabrication of various kind of heat-exchangers, by constituting the apparatus so as to move forward and backward the expander ball inserted into the straight pipe, whose one end is clamped, through the guide bar.
CONSTITUTION: Many fins 2 and side plates 3 are previously formed in the pipe- insert-hole; into this pipe-insert-hole, the radiating-straight-pipe being formed into long and straight, is inserted from the side of the side plate 3; hereby, many fins 2 and side plates 3 are combined. Next, the neck root of the joint portions 7 and 7' for the return pipe, is held by the clamp unit 8 using the flare type sectional dies whose hole-diameter is somewhat larger than the outside diameter of the pipe after the expanding work. And then, the pipe is expanded by drawing the expander ball 10 moving along the guide bar 9, alternately toward the both pipe ends, setting the base point at the joint portions 7 and 7' from the side of return-pipe-joint-portions 8a and 8b of the pipe; hereby, the pipe and fins 2 are fixed together.
