Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the quality of ion quantity monitoring and obtain good mass spectra by operating an ion detector only when the mass number having been detected is within the spectified range.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of performing mass number scanning for ion detection, integrating the output waveforms of a detector 4 via ion detector 8 and recording the same in an ion recorder 9, the range of their taking-in is beforehand set. Namely, only when the mass number from a mass display device 6 enters the inside of the range of the upper and lower limit values of the mass number having been set with digital switches 16, 15 by using comparators 12, 11, by way of a gate circuit 10 the integrating circuit of the ion detector 8 is opened, whereby ion monitoring of good quality is accomplished. Next, when the sensitivity has become sufficiently high while the ion recorder 9 is being observed, the mass number scanning for ion detection is stopped to stop the function of the ion detector 8 and start the mass number scanning for obtaining mass spectra, thus the mass spectra of good quality are recorded in the recorder 5 with good sensitivity.
