Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce alloy material with very high damping and soundproofing properties, by applying electricity to damping alloy powder in order to sinter it.
CONSTITUTION: Metals composing damping alloy, e.g., alloy consisting of Mn, Cu, is ground. The obtained powders are blended at a required ratio, and compressed weakly by electro-sintering method so that discharge is generated between particles to produce Joule heat, then pressed and sintered. This sintered material is pref. subjected to soln. treatment. The sintered material produced by the present method exhibit damping coefficient remarkably larger than that of Mn-Cu alloy produced by conventional method.
