Abstract
PURPOSE:To make tension action on wire constant in order to prevent the wire from being supplied excessively, by drawing out welding wire from a winding which holds large amount of the wire through a guide roll supported elastically, and by mounting a braking means on the winding in order to prevent rotation due to inertia. CONSTITUTION:A freely rotatable guide roller 12 for wire 1 is installed at a suitable position on the outer periphery of welding wire winding. The roller 12 is supported elastically in the direction becoming distant from the winding with springs 14. The wire 1 is drawn out through the guide roller 12 as shown by a chain line 1'. A band 10 is suspended by a brake drum 9 attached to a supporting shaft 8 of the winding and is stretched with a weight 11. The wire keeps a constant tension becuase it drives the winding with a resultant force of restoring force of the springs 14 of the guide roller 12 and drawing tension of the wire. Frictional force between the brake drum 9 and the band 10 restrains the inertia rotation of the winding, preventing the excessive supply of the wire to the welding head.
