Abstract

PURPOSE: To manufacture the title material satisfied with both vibration damping and sound absorbing properties, along with good adhesiveness to other structures, by expansion and cure of a composition consisting mainly of an epoxy resin and a liquid butadiene (co) polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A composition is first prepared by mixing the following three components: (1) 100 parts by wt. of an epoxy resin or a modified one, (2) pref. 100-250 parts by wt. of a liquid butadiene (co) polymer, or its devivative with its end group(s) modified with functional group(s), and (3) additives such as fillers, pigments, etc. In the second step, a blowing agent and a potential curing agent for the epoxy resin are added to the composition obtained above to carry out heating and expansion.
