Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a thermosetting resin decorative laminate having improved bending and wear resistance, by using synthetic or semisynthetic fiber decorative paper.
CONSTITUTION: A sheet of synthetic or semisynthetic decoratibe paper, e.g. made from rayon, acetate, polyester fibers alone or their mixture, having a basis weight of preferably 50W200 g/m2 is impregnated with a thermoplastic resin, e.g. melamine, and dried to give a sheet of decorative paper impregnated with the thermosetting resin. The paper is then placed on the base board, and, if necessary, a sheet of overlay paper is placed. The superposed layers are hot-pressed by a planished plate to form a decorative laminate impregnated with the resin.
