Abstract

PURPOSE: To prepare an almost colorless unsaturated polyester resin having excellent curing characteristics, in a short time, by reacting an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride with a dihydric alcohol under specific conditions, and subjecting the reaction product to a special reaction and dehydrative condensation reaction.
CONSTITUTION: 1 mole of a dicarboxylic acid anhydride component containing ≥ 20 mole % of an α,β-unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride is reacted with 0.25 W 0.4 mole of a dihydric alcohol at 90 W 150°C in an inert gas to give a reaction product mixture (A) containing 0.33 W 0.65 equivalent/100 g of carboxyl group.
