Abstract

PURPOSE: To shorten the stopping time of a generator by inverting to abruptly demagnetize a rectifying circuit at demagnetizing step until field current becomes zero completely.
CONSTITUTION: The input of a prime mover 2 is disconnected, a synchronous breaker 12 is opened, and a switch 7' is then switched to terminal B to invert a rectifying circuit 5 for abrupt demagnetization. When a field current is reduced to predetermined value, an AC breaker 13 is opened, and the switch 7' is switched to a terminal C to simultaneously fire all the thyristors of the circuit 5. Then, an AC breaker 14 is closed, and the switch 7' is switched to terminal D to invert the circuit 5 for abrupt demagnetization. When the field current becomes zero, a generator braking switch 16 is closed, and the switch 7' is switched to terminal E to thus supply braking field current to the circuit 5.
