Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible the management of amount of air blown to blast furnaces by eliminating changes in the air with a part of cool air to be blown to the blast furnace used for the cooling medium of the heavy oil burner for the blast furnaces.
CONSTITUTION: Air from a blower 1 is controlled with an orifice 0 and fed to a cool air main pipe 2. Most part of air blown is sent to a regenerator 12 of the hot stove from a branch pipe 3 and heated up to a high temperature. Then, it is fed to a tuyere of the blast furnace from a blowing piping 10 through a combustion chamber 13 and a mixing chamber. On the other hand, cool air required for cooling a heavy oil burner 7 is inducted from the cool air main pipe to a cooling device 4 through a cooling air pipe 2' where the temperature of the air is lowered down to 80 to 100°C to make up for pressure loss due to cooling by a booster 5 and then, sent to the heavy oil burner 7 to cool thereof. With such an arrangement, the heavy oil burner 7 of the blast furnace avoids damage due to high temperature, while there is no change in the amount of air blown to the blast furnace, thereby ensuring smooth operation.
