Abstract

PURPOSE: To trap uranium from a diluted uranium solution as a high concentration uranium solution by using a fibrous ion exchange material having tetraammonium radical or pyridyl radical.
CONSTITUTION: A diluted tranium solution is brought into contact with a fibrous ion exhange material (with a fiber length of 1 to 15 mm) with tetraammonium radical or pyridly bonded to a fiber with fiber diameter of less than 100, preferably 5 to 70, and preferably a granular matter (preferably with a grain size of 80 to 5 mesh) to which the fibrous ion exhange material adheres entangled. For the fiber, applicable are polyvinyl chloride fiber, polyethylene fiber, acetyl cellulose fiber or the like. The fibrous ion exchange material can be produced for example as follows: stylene or vinyl benzylchloride and divinyl benzene is polymerized with a monomer solution having a polimerization initiator added while the solution is absorbed by the fiber. Subsequently, tetraammonium radical is introduced into the mixture by trimethylamine.
