Abstract

PURPOSE: To generate a distortionless parallel electric field to enhance resolution by providing a deflecting electrode and a net-shaped electrode for making an accelerating electric field uniform between the electron beam control electrode and the accelerating electrode.
CONSTITUTION: Focusing electrode 21, deflecting electrodes 23a and 23b and net- shaped electrode 24 are arranged in order between control electrode plate 5, which controls incident electron beam, and fluorescent material film 10. In this constitution, electrode plate 5 is formed by combination of stripe shaped control electrodes 7 having through holes 3c which are caused to beam through, and electrode 21 is provided with through hole 22 correspondingly to through hole 3c. Next, deflecting electrodes 23a and 23b are arranged in the back of electrode 21, and mesh-shaped electrode 24 having plural through holes which have a hole diameter below 0.3 mm is arranged in the back of them. Thus, a parallel equipotential surface is generated in the accelerating region by electrode 24, and influences of the high electric field on electrodes 23a, 23b and 21 are prevented. As a result, beam without focusing and divergence collides with the surface of fluorescent material film 10, and resolution is made good.
