Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the title polymer emulsion having high dispersibility in water and excellent storage stability, by compounding a specific amount of a nonionic surface active agent and a water-soluble organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A W/O tupe emulsion composed of (A) 10-70 wt% of a water- soluble vinyl polymer of the formula (R1 is H, methyl; R2,3 are 1-4C alkyl, etc.; R4 is H, 1-4C alkyl, etc.; A is O, NH; B is 1-4C alkylene, etc.) obtained from a cationic acrylic vinyl monomer, etc., (B) 10-50% of water, (C) 10-50% of a liquid hydrocarbon (pref. isoparaffin),i (D) 1-50% of a nonionic surface active agent having an HLB of ≤ 12, pref. 7-11 (pref. higher alochol/ethylene oxide adduct) and (E) 5-200%, based on (C), of a water-soluble organic solvent having a water solubility of ≥ 3% at 20°C and a boiling point of ≥ 40°C (pref. ≤ 8C aliphatic or cycloaliphatic monohydric alcohol).
