Abstract

PURPOSE: To stably pile up paper sheets, by providing a conveyor with a position detector to detect a supplied paper sheet and delaying the signal generated by the position detector and supplying the delayed signal to a brake means equipped behind the conveyor to apply a braking force to the rear end of the paper sheet.
CONSTITUTION: The position detector 24 for detecting the paper sheet passing a position on the conveyor 1 is installed in said position. The detection signal generated by the detector is supplied to a control circuit 27, which delays the signal by a time appropriate for the paper sheet to reach a roller 13. The delay time is set by adjusting a variable resistor 28 so that the brake means acts on the rear end of the paper sheet. The brake means consists of the roller 13 which rotates more slowly than endless belts 2, 3 of the conveyor, and a lever 17 which rocks and supports a small roller 16 which sandwiches the paper sheet together with the roller 13. An electromagnet 21 is energized by the delayed signal so that both the rollers sandwich and brake the rear end of the paper sheet.
