Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a fluorescent lamp, in which a mixture of rare gases of argon, krypton and xenon, having a maller heat loss than argon itself, is used as charge gas, whereby power consumption can be reduced and starting of the lamp can be facilitated.
CONSTITUTION: The bulb 1 of fluorescent lamp of this invention is 27W31mm in its outer diameter, and a mixture gas of krypton, xenon and argon is charged therein at 1.5W2.5 mmHg, with the content of krypton xenon being smaller than 45 % and 10 %, respectively. If outer diameter (d) of bulb 1 exceeds 31 mm, tube current is increased because of low impedance of the charged gas, so that there is aroused a fear of breaking stabilizer. On the other hand, if outer diameter (d) is smaller than 27 mm, output of light is lowered. Further, if content of krypton and xenon in the mixture of rare gases is increased, tube power is lowered but tube current is increased. Therefore, there is aroused also a fear of breaking the stabilizer if outer diameter (d) of bulb 1 is made smaller than 27 mm, and output of light is also decreased.
