Abstract

PURPOSE: To make it possible to smoothly move a towed body up and down while towing the body at a high speed under water, by attaching a sinker to the lower end of a first towing rope delivered from a hoist mounted on a tugboat and coupling the towed body to the sinker through a second towing rope.
CONSTITUTION: The sinker 15 is attached to the lower end of the first towing rope 13a which is delivered from the hoist 12 on the tugboat 11 though a controller 11a. The second towing rope 13b extends from the sinker 15. The towed body 14 is coupled to the second towing rope. The towed body 14 is provided with elevators 14a and blades 14b so that the towed body 14 can rock vertically. In high-speed towing, the sinker 15 is maintained at a required depth to prevent the first towing rope 13a from rocking when the towed body 14 moves up and down.
