Abstract

PURPOSE: A discharge lamp lighing circuit which can prevent flickering after starting, can reduce the voltage applied to capacitors and other electronic parts, and can generate high voltage in starting.
CONSTITUTION: Between the electrodes of a discharge lamp 1 is arranged a lighting in-series circuit which comprises a triac 4 (a-c switching element), capacitor 2, and a secondary winding 9 of the same polarity with the primary winding of a stabilizer 7(flow restricting element). The voltage applied to the lamp 1 upon lighting is the voltage of an inductance element 7 plus the voltage of the capacitor 2. The effects of unstable voltage variation on lighting are distributed to the element 7 and the capacitor 2, so that stable supply of re-arc voltage can be ensured, that flickering is prevented, that the proof voltage of the capacitor can be lowered, and that the stabilizer and other parts can be made smaller and lighter.
