Abstract

PURPOSE: To secure production of a high-contrast Braun tube in a simple and economical way by coating the thin layer of the sensitive composition featuring a difference of the powder substance storing capacity between the exposed and non- exposed parts on the inner surface of the face plate.
CONSTITUTION: The sensitive composition containing the diazonium salt or the like is dissolved into water, alcohol and the like to be then coated on the inner surface of panel 1, thus forming thin layer 2. Then the ultraviolet rays is irradiated via the shadow mask at the area of layer 2 where the green fluorescent substance, for example, is to be coated. As a result, the material featuring the powder substance storing capacity is grown through the optical reaction decomposition of the diazonium salt. Thus, the mixture of the pigment and the fluorescent particle is diffused on the surface of layer 2, and the particles stick only to the thin layer at the exposed area. The residual particles are removed away on the thin layer through the air spray method and the like, and the green fluorescent substance coated layer 3 is formed. In the same way, the fluorescent substance coated layers are formed for blue 4 and red 5 respectively.
