Abstract

PURPOSE: The surface of polyester films is coated with a specific acrylic polymer composition to produce polyester films having good antistatic effect and permitting offset printing.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of polyester films is coated with a composition containing 0.2-1 wt% of the solid component mixture consisting of a water-soluble acrylic polymer with a molecular weight of 25,000-45,000 and quarternary ammonium salt on the side chains of the formula (R1, R2, R3 are same or different methyl or ethyl; X is halogen; m is 50-150; 1 is 2-4) and another acrylic copolymer soluble in aliphatic lower alcohols in a weight ratio of 30/70-0/100 under coating conditions that the wet angle on the treated surface becomes over 85° in water and below 30° in linseed oil under the atmosphere of 20°C and 60% RH.
