Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a means for electrical detection of shortage of coolant gas by electrical conversion of the displacements of a diaphragm partitioning wet coolant gas, which is identical to coolant gas and provided with saturation pressure, off coolent gas channels.
CONSTITUTION: A main body 8 of a coolant shortage detector 7 is made up of nonmagnetic material and chambers 11 and 12 are formed by insertion of a diaphragm 12. The chamber 11 is connected to a pipe 20 between a liquid trap 4 and an expansion valve 5 and wet coolant gas, identical to coolant gas and provided with saturation pressure, is sealed in the chamber 12. In the event of shortage, coolant gas is superheated or saturated, making the pressure of the chamber 11 smaller than that of the chamber 12, causing a rod 14 and magnetic material 13 to move downward within a coil 15, with current supplied to a pickup coil 15 by means of electromagnetic induction and to an alarm via an amplifier 17, thereby raising alarm.
