Abstract

PURPOSE: A wood presevative that contains a specific thiosalicylanilide or a composition the same and at least one selected from trialkyltins and triaryltins as the effective component.
CONSTITUTION: A compound of the formula (R1 is halogen, methyl, trifluoromethyl, R2 is H, nitro) alone or a combination thereof with at least one selected from organotrialkyltins or triaryltins is used as the effective component and it is dissolved in an organic solvent or combined with a surfactant into an oil or emulsion agent to give the objective wood preservative. The compounds of the formula have high activity of wood preservation, however, the combination thereof with an organotin compound at a weight ratio of 10/1W1/10, preferably 3/1W1/3, shows synergestically antibacterial effect on wider ranges of bacteria and molds rotting wood.
