Abstract

PURPOSE:A toothpaste composition that contains microcapsuled silicone oil, thus telling the completion of tooth brushing by defoaming the toothpaste with silicone oil emerging from the microcapsules broken after brushing for a prescribed time. CONSTITUTION:A toothpaste is combined with microcapsules containing silicone oil as the core substance made by, e.g., the complex-coacervation method. The amount of the silicone oil added to the toothpaste is 10-100ppm based on the paste. The silicone oil has defoaming properties and the one used as food additive is prefereed. For example, it has the structure of the formula (n is 85-230) and a viscosity of 100-400 centipoise. The use of silicone oil makes it sure to defoam in a short time in spite of a trace amount and improves the comfortableness when the paste is used as well as the safety.
