PURPOSE: To reduce malfunction due to noises in a SECAM signal or disturbance by a FM detector and amplitude detector while making it possible to discriminate between NTSC and SECAM systems.
CONSTITUTION: The control signal frequency of a tape recorded on the SECAM system, when reproduced at 1st or 2nd tape speed Vs or VN, is higher than the output frequency of divider circuit 3 all the time. On the other hand, the control signal frequency of a tape recorded at 2nd type speed VN, when reproduced at 1st or 2nd tape speed VS or VN, is lower than the output frequency of divider circuit 3 all the time to the contrary. Therefore, which of systems a reproduction tape is recorded on can be discriminated judging from whether the frequency of a reproduced control signal is higher or lower than that of divider circuit 3. Namely, when comparator 5 detects a high level, the reproduction tape is judged to be a tape on the NTSC to operate NTSC color circuit 8 through gate 6.
