Abstract
PURPOSE:To industrially manufacture the thick-walled clad steel plate by providing a vent pipe to a faying plate and exhausting the inside then sealing the pipe and rolling the plates. CONSTITUTION:Respective ply materials 1 and base material 2 are superposed without intervening any intermediate member and a separating member 5 is interposed between the opposing ply materials 1. A faying plate 4 is hermetically welded to around the base materials 2. A mild steel pipe 7 is beforehand mounted to the faying plate 4 and while the inside of the bonding part of the combined blanks 1, 2 is being exhausted down to pressure of 1 Torr or under through this, the pipe 7 is lightly forge-welded. In this way, the combined materials holding a vacuum at the faying surfaces of the both blanks 1, 2 are heated to a suitable temperature, after which they are rolled down to the specified thickness, whereby the perfect metal bonding is obtained.
