Abstract
PURPOSE:To enable the production of mother plate for soft tin plate and to economically provide tin plate through reduced installation cost by installing heat-and- cool region and rapid cooling region that can be switched, at the downstream of uniform heating region in a continuous annealing unit. CONSTITUTION:Jet coolers 9 are installed in the first rapid-cooling region 11, behind partition wall 10, at the inlet of slow-cooling region 3a next to uniform-heating region 2 and heating region 1 in a conventional continuous annealing unit. Also, jet coolers 14 are installed in the second rapid-cooling region 15, behind partition wall 10', at the last two passes of rapid cooling-region 4a. To produce soft type tin plate mother plate of temper grade T-1-T-3 whose production is heretofore difficult, the operation is performed as follows: Jet coolers 9 and 14 are set to ON, clean tube 7 in slow-cooling region 3a is OFF, heater 12 is ON, cooler in rapid- cooling region 8 is OFF, and heater 13 is ON, so that process of heat-uniform-first rapid cool-overaging-second rapid cool is performed. This enables to one-line continuous annealing unit to process all temper grade mother plate for tin plate, which is the operation that conventionally needs two-line processing system.
