Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent the inner tank of a double sheathed low temperature tank from damaging due to the sinking and consolidation of particulate heat insulator by providing an intermediate wall of seam construction between the inner and the outer tanks of the double sheathed tank to thereby prevent the volumetric change in the space between the intermediate wall and the outer tank. CONSTITUTION:An intermediate wall 3 is provided between the outer tank 1 and the inner tank 2 of a double sheathed low temperature tank. The wall 3 is formed of a longitudinal framework by coupling the panel members 3a via a seam construction and forming a telescopic portion 4. The outer tank 1 and the wall 3 are connected by laterally supporting members 8 and suspension rod 14. A heat insulator inflow preventive plate 9 is provided between the wall 3 and the inner tank 2, and coated on the top surface thereof peripherally with a canvas 11. Accordingly, the deformation of the inner tank 2 due to thermal contraction is absorbed by the telescopic portion 4 to thus eliminate the volumetric variation of the space 6 between the wall 3 and the outer tank 1 and the sinking and consolidation of particulate heat insulator A filled in the space 6. Thus, it prevents the inner tank from damaging and facilitates an easy assembling of the intermediate wall.
