Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the frictional loss around the crank shaft of an internal combustion engine by reducing the clearance between the crank bearing and the crank shaft and expanding the oil relief of the con'rod bearing of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: A lubricating oil groove 12 is formed on the sliding surface of the semicircular sliding bearing 4A(4B) of a crank bearing, and provided with a pawl 14 on the back surface thereof to position the crank shaft. Accordingly, the recess 15 formed upon formation of the pawl 14 coincides at the position with the groove 12 to thereby eliminate the enlargement of the clearance between the crank bearing and the crank shaft, but to increase the fluid resistance at the butt portion of the sliding bearing 4A(4B) to thereby maintain adequate flow rate and pressure of lubricating oil. The difference between the clearance between the central crown of the sliding bearing 5A(5B) of con'rod bearing and a pin 6 and the clearance at the position a from the end is so set to 16-80μm as to expand its oil relief to thereby reduce the frictional loss around the crank shaft.
