Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve the vibration resistance, corrosion resistance and durability of a mechanical seal by engaging a fluorine resin sealing ring through a packing around a shaft and engaging it with a cylinder connected to the outer periphery of the packing.
CONSTITUTION: A sealing ring 2 is inserted through a shaft 3 fixed to a casing 1. A fluorine resin sealing ring 4 is engaged through a packing 5 with the shaft 3. There are provided a cylindrical portion 6 at the outer periphery of the packing 5, a metallic cylinder 7 engaged around the outer periphery of the cylindrical portion 6, a knock 8 formed at part of the cylinder 7 and engaged with the groove 9 on the outer periphery of the ring 4. Thus, the ring 4 is engaged with the cylinder 7 to thereby enhance the cushioning effect thereat. A cylindrical portion 20 is provided between the side surface 18 of the ring 4 and the contacting portion of the packing 5. Since the ring 4 is made of fluorine resin with light weight, the cylindrical portion 20 can be lengthened to enhance its vibration resistance. The packing 5 has radially outwardly expanding force due to its push ring 10 to thereby enhance its sealing effect between the packing 5 and its contacting portion.
