Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate the restriction of the upper space of the machining position of a machine tool and shorten the idle time of the machine tool by employing a rotary arm type for a manipulator. CONSTITUTION:When a workpiece is completely machined, a directly-operated cylinder 55 is actuated to rotate a rotary disk 48 and a transfer bar 43 thereby turning upwardly a rotary arm 60 from the first position P1. Thus, a work gripper 60a receives the workpiece W supported via work retainers 22, 23 and a chuck 20 to scrape up the workpiece W, and turns the workpiece W via the rotary arm 60 to the second position P2 not interfered by the body of a machine tool. Then, a drive motor is operated to slide the transfer bar 43 through a rockable arm 69 and a slide 68 by the eccentric motion of a crack pin 72. Thus, the arm 60 holding the workpiece is moved forwardly at a stroke corresponding to the conveying pitch. The cylinder 55 is again operated at the forward end to turn the arm 60 downwardly and to transfer the workpiece W to the chuck 20 and the retainers 23, 24 and to return in to the first position P1.
