Abstract

PURPOSE:To easily arrange a plurality of ink ejection nozzles closely to one another to enable printing of high-density dot matrix characters, by connecting the nozzles to an ink source through passages perpendicular to the nozzles. CONSTITUTION:Ejection nozzles N1-12 are arranged zigzag in two rows and connected to radial ink passages G1-12. The outer ends of the passages are coupled to cylindrical piezoelectric elements P1-12 which serve also as ink passages C1-12. Grooves g1-12, which communicate with the nozzles N1-12, are provided on the reverse side of a plate GP in which the nozzles are opened. A base plate B is covered on the grooves g1-12 so that the passages G1-12 are defined. As a result, the spacing between the passages G1-12 is made sufficiently large. Therefore, the working and formation of the passages are facilitated and the arrangement pitch of the nozzles can be easily made minute. Since there is a margin for the spacing between the passages, their cross-sectional area can be increased as the passages g4, g5 shown by chain lines in Fig.
