Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the length of the main shaft and to facilitate the processing of the same by mounting change gears in the order of higher gears - lower gears - a overdrive gear, and stepping-up the diameters of positions corresponding to the gears.
CONSTITUTION: The change gears are mounted on the main shaft from the left end to the middle part of the main shaft 5. A third gear 15, second gear 16 and low gear 17 are disposed at positions 36, 37 and 38 respectively. The hubs 18a and 19a of synchronizers 18 and 19 are disposed at positions 39 and 40 respectively. Splines are formed on the positions 39 and 40. The diameters of the positions are successionally stepped-up from the position 39, 36, 37, and up to 40, the diameter of the main shaft 5 is enlarged in steps. The main shaft thus designed provides extremely easy machining in which a machining jig is simply moved in one direction along the work.
