Abstract
PURPOSE: To let the tail of pipe coincide easily with the terminal line of water of pressure medium, by avoiding extreme restrictions of moving of water in the pipe axial direction, when expanding a pipe by evaporating the water of pressure medium with discharge energy and using this pressure of evaporation.
CONSTITUTION: A cartridge 8 containing water 9 of pressure medium is placed in a pipe 14 to be expanded, and a discharge energy charged in a capacitor 4 is instantly passed into a filament 11 placed therein by closing a switch 5. The filament is instantly fused and evaporated by a large current to evaporate the water 9 of pressure medium with its heat, so that the pipe 14 is expanded with its pressure F1 to be pressed against a pipe plate 15. At this time, the end cap 10 of the cartridge 8 is made of a thin sheet 17 of polyethylene material. This thin sheet is easily broken by the pressure of steam. As a result, the pressure medium is changed from liquid to nearly gas, dropping the pressure transmitting efficiency, so that the expanding effect of the pipe 14 due to composite force F2 in oblique direction with the force F3 in the pipe axial direction may be reduced. Thus, the positions of tail parts coincide, and the adjustment of pipe expansion length may be easier.
