Abstract
PURPOSE: To use flasks of various sizes with one molding machine and perform multiple-kind and small-volume production by putting a sheet on top of molding sand and flask, containing these in a hollow chamber, supplying compressed air and molding the mold.
CONSTITUTION: A flask 27 is placed on top of a pattern plate 23 pierced with multiple small holes 25 and molding sand 31 is charged into the flask 27. A flexible and non-air-permeable sheet is put on top of the molding sand 31 and flask 27 in such a manner as to close the top opening of the flask 27. The small holes 25 of the pattern plate 23 communicates with the atmosphere and a cover member 14 is lowered until it contacts a stationary table 1. When compressed air is supplied into the cover member 14 by opening a gate valve 18, the molding sand 31 is pressed and hardened from above the sheet, whereby a mold 27 is molded. After the molding, the compressed air in the cover member 14 is exhausted and the cover member 14 is moved upward. The flask 27 having been built in with the mold is carried out together with the pattern plate 23.
