Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely blow back the cooling liquid deposited on strips by suitably disposing a retractable air nozzle which has been energized in the retreating direction by a spring and air supply port or the like in the specified positions in the draining device of the rolling mill.
CONSTITUTION: An air nozzle 17 which is positioned on the extension of the common tangent on the downstream side of a pair of rolling rolls of the rolling mill and has a broad and flat-form injection orifice 19 formed in the position opposing to each roll is provided. The air nozzle 17 has guides 21, 22 on its tapered faces and has the injection orifices 20 opposing to the rolls 18, 18 and is so constituted that it is advanced against the spring 33 by the air from the air supply port 23 on the rear end side to be prevented from contacting with the rolls 18 by the air from the injection orifices 20 and that the cooling liquid deposited on the strip is blown back by the air jet from the injection orifice 19. When the air supply is stopped upon completion of the work, the nozzle 17 is retreated by the spring 33.
