Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the efficiency of dust collection by providing perforated plates in the direction of interrupting the flow of gas at a place on the gas inlet side of dust collecting electrode.
CONSTITUTION: Plural numbers of metal perforated plates 17 and ventilating plates 18 are provided in such a way as to partition the inlet flue 3 of an electric dust collector. During passage through small holes 16 of the perforated plates 17, gas is rapidly cooled by the heat radiation of the perforated plate 17 itself and pressure drop encountered upon passage of the gas through the small holes. As the temperature falls, moisture is condensed and then dust present in the gas is adsorbed in the condensed water and gradually grows to greater particle aggregates. In these processes, dust of a grain size of approx. 0.01 microns is coarsened to a grain size of 1W10 microns after approx. 1/100sec especially a grain size of approx. 100 microns at largest, so that the efficiency of dust collection can be raised.
