CONSTITUTION: In the manufacture of a polymerized oil by heating oil and fat, a quinone compound with an atomic group of the formula I (wherein R' is H or a hydrocarbon group) in its molecule is used as a catalyst and also a phenol or an amine is used jointly as needed. The quinone compound can be manufactured by subjecting hydroquinone, an aldehyde, and a primary or secondary amino to a Mannich reaction and then oxidizing the reaction product.
