Abstract

PURPOSE: To print characters to the position sufficiently close to the seam of a lateral type bankbook even though one side pages become thick by performing the shift actions of two independent ink ribbons after the printing head is retreated once.
CONSTITUTION: After the head retreating solenoid 13 is excited to retreat the printing head 1 from the bankbook 33 before the shift action of ribbon, the ribbon changeover solenoid 30b is excited to shift the ribbon cartridges 22, 23 in the direction of the arrow C. The ribbon 34 that has approached to the thick page side of the booklet is pulled into the cartridge 23 according to the retreat of the printing head 1, the ribbon is stretched between tip ends of both ears of the cartridge 23 to provide a space between the ribbon 34 and the page surface. After the shift action of ribbon, the head 1 is advanced to the bankbook 33 by releasing the retreating solenoid 13 and by exciting the head advancing solenoid 15 to pull out the ribbon 35.
