Abstract

PURPOSE: To carry out the efficient and stable quenching of red-hot coke, by detecting the composition or volume of gas in a gas circulation pipings, and, when the content of combustible gas is increased, extracting the gas as a fuel gas and diluting the coke oven gas with an inert gas to adjust the composition to the desired value.
CONSTITUTION: Variation of circulating gas for coke-quenching caused by mixing with combustible gas generated from red-hot coke, is detected with a gas-composition detecting means 13. When the gas composition exceeds the preset limit value, the valve V3 is opened to dilute the gas with N2 gas and at the same time, the valve V2 is opened to extract the circulating gas to compensate the increment of the circulating gas by the generated gas and the introduced N2 gas. The extracted gas is introduced into a fuel gas line 9 through a branch 15, a dust-collector 7 and a blower 8. The circulating gas heated in a quenching oven 1 is fed to a heat-exchanger 2 to recover the heat energy, and circulated through a circulating gas line 10 having a dust-collector 3 and a blower 4.
