Abstract

PURPOSE:To achieve the increase in the amount of coating of phosphor and the evening of coating film by mounting a conical diffusion plate made of ceramics to the end of a nozzle, providing a metal body to the end of the diffusion plate and electrically connecting this to a nozzle body in the device of electrostatically coating phosphor powder in the heated glass tube. CONSTITUTION:While a glass tube 1 is being rotated on an insulation rotary disc 2, it is heated to about 200 to 350 deg.C with a burner 3. In this state, a nozzle 4 is inserted into the glass tube 1 and while the nozzle 4 is being retreated, phosphor powder is injected together with compressed air and high voltage is applied between the burner 3 and nozzle 4, whereby electrostatic coating is accomplished. A diffusion plate 10 made of ceramics such as alumina into conical form is provided to the end of the nozzle 4 coaxially to the nozzle axis. A metal plate 11 is mounted by means of a metal screw to the end of this diffusion plate 10 and is electrically connected to the nozzle 4.
