Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an excellent hot workability and abrasion resistance by using a composition of each specific amount of C, Si, Mn, Cr, V and Co (may be replaced partly or all by the same quantity of Ni) and remaining Fe and unavoidable impurity.
CONSTITUTION: A composition consists of C: 0.1W0.5%, Si: 0.3W0.8%, Mn: 0.3W 1%, Cr: 8W12%, Mo: 0.3W2.5%, V: 0.3W1% and Co: 1W3% (Co may be partly or all replaced by the same amount of Ni), and the remaining Fe and unavoidable impurity. The composition is made to suit to valve seat of internal combustion engine. This heat resistant steel is highly tough, the material cost is low, and working cost is small because of excellent hot workability and machinability.
