Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a sliding material for bearing etc. which has excellent load resistance, fatigue resistance etc., by pressure welding a surface layer of Al-high Sn alloy, to which Cr etc. has been added, and an intermediate layer with addn. of restrained amount of lubricating metal to a backing steel sheet to form a laminated layer. CONSTITUTION:A surface layer comprising, by weight, 15-35 % Sn, 0.1-1 % Cr, <=5 % one or more members selected from the group consisting of Pb, Bi, In, the balance being Al; an intermediate layer comprising a total of 3-10 % one or more members selected from the group consisting of 0-10 % Sn, 0-5% Pb, 0.5- 5% In, in addn., 0-3 % Cu or Mg, 0-1 % Cr, the balance being Al; and a backing steel sheet are laminated successively. Then the laminated layer is rolled to be pressure welded and is cut to a prescribed thickness of the surface layer. This method prevents development of cracks or peeling of the surface layer, yielding sliding material excellent in antiseizing property.
