Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the degree of rectification near the short-circuit point of power source phases at the short-circuiting through employment of auxiliary current and improve the quality of welding arc by connecting the input side of an auxiliary rectifier to the secondary side of a transformer.
CONSTITUTION: The input side of a rectifier 4 is connected to the secondary sides S1, S3 of a transformer 15 and the output side thereof is connected to a torch 7 and welding work 9 by way of a reactor 6. On the other hand, the input side of an auxiliary rectifier 18 is connected to the S2, S3 points of the secondary side of the transformer 15 and a capacitor 20 is connected to the output side thereof by way of a resistance 19. The output side of the capacitor 20 is connected to the output side of the rectifier 4 by way of a diode 21. With this circuit constitution, auxiliary current i2 flows when the welding arc becomes close to short-circuiting. Hence, the rise of the welding current is expedited and the defects such as flapping phenomenon and arc tending to burn are eliminated. The period between short-circuitings become equal and the frequency thereof increase.
