Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:A compound of the formula I (wherein R1 is a phenyl group with one sulfonic acid group, R2 is H, nitro, or sulfonamide group, R3 is H, Cl, or nitro group).
EXAMPLE: The compound of the formula II.
USE: A dye which has a high water solubility and also is capable of dying the usual type nylon clear blue color, but not modified nylon.
PREPARATION: A metal complex dye of the formula II is prepared by treating a coloring matter, obtained by the coupling reaction of a diazo salt of 2-amino-phenol compound, e.g., 6-nitro-2-aminophenol-4-sulfo-3'-sulfonic acid phenylamide, etc., and a coupler, e.g., 2-benzohydrazinobenzoic acid, etc., in water or an organic solvent under neutral or alkaline condition, with a copper-generating agent e.g., copper sulfate, etc., in water or an organic solvent at ordinary or elevated temperature under acid, neutral, or alkaline condition.
