Abstract

PURPOSE: To convert the winding direction of an ink ribbon securely by providing near-end detecting levers which always contact the outsides of the ribbon wound on the ribbon spools of an ink ribbon winding device and microswitches linked with these levers.
CONSTITUTION: Near-end detecting levers 4a and 4b are provided on an ink ribbon winding device which consists of an ink ribbon 1, ribbon spools 2a and 2b which wind the ribbon, etc., supported pivotably with a shaft 5 as a pivot shaft at positions where the one end of each lever can contact the outside of the ink ribbon 1 wound on the ribbon spool 2a or 2b by the action of a spring 6a or 6b, and the other end of each lever can operate a microswitch 3a or 3b. By so doing, when the amount of the ribbon remaining on either of the ribbon spools becomes little, the other end of the near-end detecting lever operates the microswitch and stops the motion of the driving ribbon spool, and starts driving the other spool, therefore, the winding direction of the ribbon is converted.
